My Paris guide

my go tos

Paris is my favorite city in the world. Although I have been there so many times, it is a place that I feel a deep connection with and yearn to return to. I have always been obsessed with Hemingway and the era of the Lost Generation that he famously wrote about in my favorite book, The Sun Also Rises. Oh, how I wish I was living in Paris during that time. One of my biggest regrets was not taking the opportunity to live there and study at the American School in Paris when I had the opportunity to. But C'est la vie! Everything happens for a reason.

I went for the first time when I was 18 years old with my sister Christy and our mom. At the time I had no interest in seeing the sights. My poor mother could not understand me but I just wanted to feel like I was living there. Which meant that I really just wanted to go out to all of the bars and stay out late. And sit in cafes drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. There are some amazing memories from that time with my mom, dad, sisters… (I could write chapters on that!)

But back to food and culture! My husband and I have been going to Paris together for the past decade. We even renewed our vows for our 10 year anniversary at the American Church in Paris so it is incredibly romantic and special for us. And we both love steak frites! I also take eating and searching for the perfect French dining experience very seriously. Which is how after much experience I came up with my Paris List. It’s tried and true and I am always thrilled to pass it along~

Bon appetit!
